Assessor

 

The primary responsibility of the Assessment Office is to maintain equitable assessments and authorize property tax exemptions throughout the City.  The Assessor is required to administer the assessment roll in accordance with New York State Real Property Tax Law, the City Charter, and rules and regulations promulgated by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, Office of Real Property Tax Service.  The assessment roll and property inventory data is maintained using the Real Property System developed by the the State of New York.  Formal assessment appeals are considered by the Board of Assessment Review, a five-member administrative review panel.
